NOB presents Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade"

Skopje, 5 December 2025 (MIA) — The National Opera and Ballet is staging Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's ballet "Scheherazade" at 8 pm, conducted by Bisera Chadlovska.
Based on the "The Thousand and One Nights," Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" is "a masterpiece of ballet literature that combines the magic of oriental tales, dramatic music and lavish stage expression," organizers said.
"Through its rich choreography, expressive movements and carefully selected stage details, the work explores the power of storytelling," they said, adding that the ballet was passionate and intriguing, with the character of Scheherazade "bringing mystery and skill that fascinates the audience during each scene."

The ballet's choreography was created by renowned balletmaster Mikhail Krapivin after the original staging by Michel Fokine.
The cast consists of Natasha Trendafilova Gicev and Balázs Lőcsei of Hungary accompanied by the National Opera and Ballet dancers and orchestra.
The set was designed by Marija Veteroska and the costumes were designed by Maja Bursac of Serbia. The concertmaster is Verica Lambevska. mr/
