Boris Shemov's 'Inter(no)face' opens at Mala Stanica

Skopje, 18 December 2025 (MIA) — Macedonian visual artist Boris Shemov's "Inter(no)face" multimedia exhibition will open Thursday evening at Mala Stanica and run through Dec. 24.

According to organizers, the exhibition aims to raise questions about "power, control, technology and the transformation of the subject in the contemporary digital context."

The show was curated by Ana Frangovska to showcase the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence; the role of language as a visual, ideological and communication tool; and post-internet aesthetics as the new cultural reality, organizers said.

Shemov's latest artworks are based on textual interventions and video content, building on current artistic and theoretical discourses on posthumanist visual culture, they said.

According to them, "Inter(no)face" looks at artificial intelligence not as a neutral tool but as "an active factor in the creation of contemporary cultural, political and ethical relations."

"The title 'Inter(no)face' refers to the dual nature of the interface – the technical communication surface between man and machine but also the internal, ideological space where meanings, decisions and positions of power are negotiated," organizers said, adding that the artist treats the interface "not only as a functional medium but as a critical zone of collision between human experience and algorithmic logic." mr/
