Skopje, 13 January 2026 (MIA) — The Macedonian Opera and Ballet orchestra will give its traditional Vasilica — Orthodox New Year's — concert at 8 pm, featuring 1970s and 1980s disco hits performed in modern symphonic arrangements, organizers said in a press release.

Titled "Disco Night at the MOB," the concert "is not only a nostalgic return to the music of the past, but also its creative rethinking," organizers said.

The orchestra will perform hits by Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, ABBA, the Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, among many others.

The concert "bridges genres, generations and musical traditions, connecting popular culture to the institutional scene of classical music," organizers said, highlighting that the MOB was open to contemporary cultural trends.

The MOB orchestra will perform the concert together with the National Jazz Orchestra, featuring several soloists including Judith N Benoit from Great Britain, Daniel Sitrit from Denmark and Clara Lucas from Germany. Emin Dzhijan will conduct. mr/
