NOB presents 'The Bat' operetta embodying Viennese charm

Skopje, 23 December 2025 (MIA) — The National Opera and Ballet will perform Tuesday evening "The Bat," composed in 1874 by Johann Strauss II, "the king of waltzes," a NOB press release said.
"The Bat" is considered the crowning work and classical example of Viennese operetta, combining the charm of the Viennese waltz with a farcical, comedic plot.
The cast includes Vasko Zdravkov, Jane Dunimagloski (Dec. 23), Blagoj Nacoski (Dec. 26), Biljana Josifov, Nada Talevska, Sonja Pendovska Madevska, Dragan Ampov, Hristijan Antovski, Marjan Nikolovski, Aleksandra Lazarovska Vasilevski amd Tihomir Jakimovski, together with the NOB choir, orchestra and ballet dancers.

The orchestra will be conducted by Bisera Chadlovska.
The set was designed by Marija Veteroska. The costumes were designed by Marija Pupuchevska. The lighting was designed by Milcho Aleksandrov.
The director is Ljupka Jakimovska. The choreographer is Sasha Evtimova, the choir master is Jasmina Gjorgeska and the concert master is Kliment Todoroski.
"The Bat" will be reprised on Friday. mr/
