Skopje, 10 December 2025 (MIA) — Citing information from the government and the British ambassador, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova dismissed Wednesday recent allegations that the state was holding talks to accept rejected asulym seekers from the UK.
Responding to a reporter's question on recent British media reports and SDSM's leader Venko Filipche's proposed resolution against a potential migrant intake, President Siljanovska Davkova said the claims had gained momentum lately but they had started at the same time as the Strategic Partnership with the UK was signed.
"As far as I have been informed by the British Ambassador and the government, this is not true. My position is that if these are people who pose a danger to Britain, they are equally dangerous to us and I am against admitting them," Siljanovska Davkova said.
She also asked what the proposed resolution would be based on. "The question is: What on, if we don't have any evidence?"
"Because what comes out in the media, with all due respect to your profession, is not necessarily true," the president said.
She added that taking any action should be "fact- and evidence-based so as not to waste time creating additional divisions regarding questions that really do not have an answer." mr/
