Skopje, 21 December 2025 (МИА) - Education in the mother tongue is an important human right, essential for preserving and building national and cultural identity, as well as for personal development and success, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said in a greeting on December 21 - Day of Turkish Language Teaching.
"Dear members of the Turkish community, dear teachers. I have a special honor, on behalf of all citizens and on my own behalf, to extend my warmest congratulations on December 21 - Day of Turkish Language Teaching. To the Macedonian state, the linguistic imperative was clear 81 years ago, when it established Turkish language teaching in the newly liberated Skopje. Since then, Turkish language has been continuously and zealously cultivated, enriching the Macedonian multicultural identity," said the President.
On the occasion of this important day for all of us, and especially for the members of the Turkish community, I express my great gratitude to all teachers and educational workers who, with their hard work, love, professionalism and dedication, spread knowledge of the Turkish language and actively participate in the upbringing of wise, virtuous and humane young people.
"May we continue to be an example of unity in diversity and be proud of our common homeland," Siljanovska Davkova said in her greeting to the Turkish community.
