Skopje, 16 January 2025 (MIA) - Following the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia's demand to increase the minimum wage, the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia (ECNWM) brought forward a proposal for a minimum wage at EUR 500 with contributions remaining at the level of the current minimum wage.
The ECNWM position was reaffirmed on Thursday by its president Mendi Qyra, who believes it is the only way to resolve the minimum wage issue in the long-run.
"We maintain the position that the minimum wage should stand at Mden 31,500 with contributions remaining at the same level, and we believe this is the only solution and the only way to resolve the minimum wage issue in the long-run," Qyra said in response to a reporter's question ahead of Thursday's meeting organized by the ECNWM with government representatives.
