Mickoski on cabinet reshuffle: Review underway, partners to be consulted, new parties may join coalition

Skopje, 7 May 2026 (MIA) — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday that a government reshuffle could happen in June after his party finishes its internal reorganization and after they hold talks within the ruling coalition.
Responding to reporters' questions after the German-Macedonian Business Summit 2026, Mickoski said he and his staff had "indications" of which government officials were underperforming.
However, he said his staff was still reviewing the situation and has not had a detailed discussion yet. "We will have more details in June," he said.
When asked if the potential changes will take into account that the coalition partner party ZNAM lost a lawmaker, Mickoski said VMRO-DPMNE would state its own position in the upcoming talks but remained open to the views of its coalition members.
When asked if new parties might join the government, the prime minister said, "Anything is possible."
Mickoski declined to say if Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth Fatmir Limani would stay in his post.
He told reporters to ask the leaders of the Worth It coalition, which he described as a strategic partner in the government.
"You should perhaps direct this question there," he said. mr/
