Skopje, 19 February 2025 (MIA) — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on a visit to Washington met Wednesday with Alexander "Sasha" Kasanof, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Balkans and Holocaust Issues in the US Department of State's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

At the meeting, they discussed the country's European integration challenges, PM Mickoski said in a Facebook post.

"We discussed the situation in the country, our European integration and the obstacles our country faces in that regard. We have an idea, we have a plan, Macedonia has friends!", Mickoski wrote.

Earlier on Wednesday, US Ambassador Angela Aggeler said she was glad the prime minister was in Washington again.

The fact he has been there several times since taking over his position of prime minister speaks volumes about the closeness of the United States and North Macedonia, according to Aggeler. mr/
