Zhernovski dismissed from Romania ambassadorial post

Skopje, 20 February 2025 (MIA) - Andrej Zhernovski has been recalled from his post as the country’s Ambassador to Romania. In a social media post Thursday, Zhernovski said he learned of his dismissal unofficially, after it was published in the Official Gazette.

“I learned from the Official Gazette that I have been recalled as ambassador of our country to Romania, without any previous information, which is against the basic procedures outlined in the Constitution and the law. It is tragicomic! 192 days after they summoned me for ‘consultations’ in the country, during which they brutally violated the Law on Foreign Affairs, I am learning about this decision completely unofficially. Evidently, partisan reasoning is once again stronger than laws and diplomacy,” Zhernovski wrote in a post on his official Facebook profile.

The date on President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova's decree for Zhernovski’s recall is February 14, 2025.

As candidate for the ambassadorial post in Romania, Zhernovski presented his platform in front of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee in November 2023. He officially handed his credentials in March 2024.
