Skopje, 15 May 2026 (MIA) - At the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Government has decided to open an Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in the Republic of Lithuania, based in Vilnius.
According to the Foreign Ministry, opening a permanent resident diplomatic mission in Vilnius will contribute to strengthening direct political dialogue between the two countries, advancing our national interests and promoting bilateral cooperation with this important friendly country.
The Embassy in Vilnius will also take on a broader regional role, serving as the central point for representing political, economic, cultural and consular interests across the other Baltic states.
The Republic of Lithuania is among the most active members of the European Union and NATO in the domain of the Union's security and enlargement policies, as well as a state that consistently supports the European integration process of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Close, sincere and partnership relations between the two countries are also reaffirmed by Lithuania's decision, in November 2023, to open an Office in Skopje.
Under this decision, the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Warsaw ceases to be the competent diplomatic and consular mission for the Republic of Lithuania on a non-resident basis.
