Acceleration noted in reform process, says EU Ambassador

Krushevo, 14 May 2026 (MIA) - There is an acceleration in reforms compared to last year’s report and I sincerely hope that this year’s report will be able to show that progress has been made and that there will be results, the European Union’s Ambassador to the country, Michalis Rokas, told journalists Thursday during a visit to Krushevo.

Rokas said the drafting of the report is currently underway, and it is expected to be finalized in September, while the deadline for the steps and measures the Government and ministries have to implement expires at the end of June.

“The European Commission’s annual report is being drafted and it should be finalized by September or the beginning of September, so I think that what can be noted there is that a lot of hard work has been done so far. I am convinced that this will be a report that will show progress, compared to the last report by the European Commission. But what is more important is the Reform Agenda. The European Union has close cooperation with the Government and the ministries in order to achieve progress in several areas. Regarding some of the steps or measures that needed to be implemented by the Government and the ministries, their deadline expires toward the end of June. However, in general, compared to the report from last year, we can note an acceleration in the process of reforms, and I sincerely hope that this year’s report will be able to show that progress has been made and that there will be results,” Ambassador Rokas said.
