Gatherings in Skopje and Negotino honoring young woman killed by drunk driver

Gatherings in Skopje and Negotino honoring young woman killed by drunk driver

Negotino, 31 January 2025 (MIA) - A peaceful gathering will take place in Negotino on Friday, honoring 22-year-old fashion designer Frosina Kulakova, who was killed in downtown Skopje by a drunk driver two days ago.

"We live in a society where driving under the influence is considered normal. It is time to say Enough! Let's gather today at 3 p.m. on the Negotino square, honor our Frosina and send a clear message. Street safety must be a priority. Responsibility is a must. Victims cannot only be numbers. Let it not repeat," say protest organizers.

A protest will also take place near the accident site in Skopje at 1 p.m., as well as in Kavadarci on Sunday.

Рестриктивните мерки воведени поради епидемијата на коронавирус го намалија месечниот број на загинати во сообраќајни незгоди во Германија на рекордно ниско ниво.

Kulakova will be laid to rest in her native town later today.

Fashion designer Izer Curi, whose academy Kulakova attended as a student, said in a Facebook post, "Rest in peace, our most enthusiastic student. We will miss you, our angel".

The 20-year-old driver, who hit Kulakova at Partizanski Odredi boulevard in downtown Skopje, is currently in detention. He had previous records of drug trafficking and another traffic accident, but did not serve time.

Ruling and opposition parties have urged for maximum penalties for the perpetrator and swift action by institutions.
