Finance minister meets with businesspeople to discuss Hungarian loan

Skopje, 19 February 2025 (MIA) — The first tranche of the Hungarian loan aimed at supporting the domestic economy is expected to be disbursed by the end of February, Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska said Wednesday at a meeting with representatives of the Economic Chamber.

According to the Ministry of Finance in a press release, this was the first in the series of talks the finance minister has started with the business community to share information on the Hungarian loan and resolve any dilemmas that may arise in the process of applying for funding.

She added that the goal was to help boost the economy, given the global developments, and to encourage sustainable investments.

Economic Chamber head Branko Azeski highlighted the importance of the funds provided by the state to reach business companies as quickly as possible so they could launch their investment projects.

Azeski also welcomed the meetings, which would offer an opportunity to participants to exchange opinions on current topics and raise issues that affect the business community.

The government signed the loan facility agreement with the Hungarian EXIM bank in October, after the loan was agreed by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban during last year's NATO Summit in Washington. mr/
