Skopje, 19 December 2025 (MIA) - A new microbiology lab with a capacity to perform over 20,000 analyses per year was opened on Friday at the Alkaloid manufacturing plant. According to Alkaloid CEO Zhivko Mukaetov, it is an investment worth EUR 3.1 million.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski attended Friday's opening event.
"This is something that can be seen in leading-edge pharmaceutical companies in the world, and we are proud that this is Macedonian. More than 3,000 employees are building their future here and in the Alkaloid offices, and the largest part of the portfolio of this company, i.e. over two thirds, is exported, which affects the increase in GDP and industrial production," said Mickoski.
The Government, the PM noted, will always support such success stories.
According to Mukaetov, the new investment means a lot in terms of expanding Alkaloid's portfolio, further boosting competitiveness not only in the region, but also in the world.
"We are proud of the new investment that will allow us to become even more competitive, as well as Macedonia as a country. With this, we are expanding the capacities of microbiological analysis of raw materials, semifinished products and finished products. We are proud that the company continues its investment cycle," Mukaetov said.
He noted that 2025 was a year full of challenges.
"We are closing the year with performance above target, with total revenues of over EUR 335 million and a record consolidated amount of over EUR 220 million," said Mukaetov.
