Skopje, 16 April 2026 (MIA) - A delegation of the Parliament composed of MPs from the Committee on European Affairs and the National European Integration Council, as well as representatives of the parliamentary service from the Sector on Foreign Policy and European Affairs, began Thursday a visit to the Republic of Croatia which will last until April 18.
The visit is a part of the project “Support to European Integration of North Macedonia” organized by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) with the goal of exchanging experiences and good practices related to Croatia’s European integration process.
In Croatia, the delegation had a working meeting at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The MPs met with Croatia’s Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman and the Ministry’s State Secretary, Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, and exchanged views on ongoing challenges in the EU enlargement process, the role of parliaments in the process, as well as the importance of institutional coordination.

The delegation also met with former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Vesna Pusić, discussing political leadership, Parliament’s role, and building public consensus in the Euro-integration process. The meeting stressed the importance of an inclusive approach and transparent communication with the public.
As part of the trip, MP and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Antonijo Milosheski held a meeting with Croatian MP Marijana Petir, during which they highlighted the importance of continued parliamentary cooperation and exchange of experiences as a significant contribution to the progress of the countries of the region on their path to EU membership.

The delegation also met with representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, discussing Croatia’s strategic approach to EU enlargement, as well as the coordination between the Government and Parliament in the accession process. The meeting highlighted the need for strong institutional cooperation and a clear political vision as key factors for success.
During all the meetings, the readiness of the Republic of Croatia to continue supporting the Republic of North Macedonia through the sharing of expertise and experience on its path toward membership in the European Union was emphasized.

“Interlocutors agreed that strengthened coordination as NATO member states represents a top foreign policy priority, serving as an effective mechanism for aligning positions and increasing contributions to regional and Euro‑Atlantic security. Their joint commitment to the values and principles of the Alliance was reaffirmed,” Parliament said in a press release.
The visit will continue in the coming days with new meetings and thematic sessions dedicated to various aspects of the European integration process.
