Skopje, 18 February 2025 (MIA) - Eighty years of Official Gazette is not only a number, it is a testimony of the continuity, professionalism and commitment to the rule of law and institutional order. Since its establishment, this public enterprise has been the foundation of legal security, a source of official truth and a warrant of transparency in adoption and implementation of legislation. Steps are undertaken to build a strategy for digital transformation of the enterprise, whereas the institutions and the Government play a key role in the realization of this objective, heard an event observing the 80th anniversary of "Official Gazette" of the Republic of North Macedonia, held in Skopje on Tuesday.
Official Gazette director Vladimir Kronevski said over 8,000 editions have been published during the past eight decades, noting it is a chronicler of the country's statehood, historical acts and legal documents.
"Times are changing, new challenges are coming. Current operations require new approaches. Digitization is the enterprise's path to the future. We are not talking only about trends or technological advancement, but fresh avenues of thinking and ways to interact with citizens. In this regard, we are projecting an offer with a unique opportunity to advance transparency through digital platforms, clarity and precision of every key segment in building trust among citizens. Digitization will lead to significant savings in time and delivery of documents," said Kronevski.
He added that the digital transfer will contribute to the protection of the environment, with significant steps already in the pipeline to build a modern strategy for digital transformation.
Justice Minister Igor Filkov said the first issue of Official Gazette was published on 18 February 1945, at a time when the whole territory of Macedonia was not yet liberated.
"The first issue included the acts of the first session of the Anti-Fascist Assembly for the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) and the acts of the ASNOM Presidium, adopted in August 1944. They could not be published in the meantime because the ASNOM sessions took place in a time of occupation," said Filkov.
Deputy PM for political system Ljupcho Dimovski said the 80-year jubilee is a testimony of the country's history, publishing all major acts and documents.
"This jubilee is not only a number, it is a testimony of the continuity, professionalism and commitment to the rule of law and institutional order. Since its establishment, this public enterprise is the foundation of legal security, a source of official truth and a warrant of transparency in adoption and implementation of legislation," said Dimovski.
According to him, significant societal and legal changes have taken place over the past 80 years, but the Official Gazette's mission has remained unchanged - an accurate, credible and accessible guardian of the legal norms.
