Skopje, 11 May 2026 (MIA) — The Ministry of Justice hosted a meeting of the workgroup on the Electoral Code and reached an agreement to amend 10 articles, aligning the code with recommendations from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.

VMRO-DPMNE's MP and Deputy Parliament Speaker Antonijo Miloshoski, who attended the meeting as a representative of his party, told MIA the meeting was productive.

Miloshoski said the workgroup had reached a consensus on several key issues, including restricting the use of institutional budgets and official social media accounts during campaigns. Participants also agreed around procedures for government hiring and public advertising during election cycles and election-process exemptions for specific workers, such as medical personnel.

Justice Minister Igor Filkov chaired the session, which included representatives from nearly all political parties, including VMRO-DPMNE, ZNAM, Levica, DUI, LDP, the Alliance for Albanians and Worth It. SDSM representatives did not attend.

The workgroup is scheduled to meet again on May 20 at the Ministry of Justice. mr/
