Skopje, 14 April 2025 (MIA) – Levica’s parliamentary group filed Monday a no confidence motion against the Interior Minister, Panche Toshkovski.
At a news conference in Parliament, MP Sashko Janchev said his party is filing a no confidence motion because, as he said, the interior minister had blatantly neglected his duties acting unprofessionally and irresponsibly, which has resulted in a series of illegal actions, scandals and rampant nepotism and cronyism at the Interior Ministry.
“The no confidence motion is founded on ten bases, including five that are directly related to the tragic incident in Kochani. The first basis is having no control over the club Pulse, which falls into the Interior Ministry’s duties,” said Janchev.
According to the law on hospitality, he added, it is the Interior Ministry that has the authorization to issue approvals that venues meet the conditions for protection of public order and peace.
The Levica MP accused the Interior Ministry of shying away from including VMRO-DPMNE members and officials into the Kochani fire investigation
Minister Toshkovski has direct command responsibility, Janchev stated.
The second basis is illegal use of pyrotechnics. “According to the law on protection from explosive devices, the MoI has a registry for permits issued for procurement of pyrotechnics. According to the law on trade in explosive substances, the MoI is authorized to ban persons from using pyrotechnics if they are not licensed,” said Janchev.
The third basis, he added, involves police officers who didn’t offer any assistance; the fourth basis is not acting on Facebook threats aimed at government critics, the fifth involves bans for drones in order to quell protests; sixth is the arrest of people in the Gostivar region trying to clean an ancient church, then no actions taken after the Macedonian flag was set on fire; the stealing of marijuana guarded by the police; the prime minister’s security detail member disclosing a top secret, and the tenth basis is nepotism and cronyism at the Interior Ministry.
