Skopje, 4 May 2026 (MIA) - On occasion of the 123th anniversary from the death of Macedonian revolutionary Goce Delchev, SDSM leader Venko Filipche accused VMRO-DPMNE of abusing his name, image and work.
"Unfortunately, his name is abused by VMRO, the organization presenting itself as the 'rightful successor', while being s criminal group led by the mafia boss Hristijan Mickoski. Goce Delchev fought against injustice and foreign rule. The present VMRO fights for tenders, to protect criminals and for Bulgarian passports in their pockets," Filipche told reporters.
According to him, the policies of the current VMRO-DPMNE leadership go completely against the ideals of the Macedonian revolutionary.
"Goce Delchev fought for a free and just Macedonia. Today's VMRO has turned the country into a nest of corruption, holding the citizens hostage to their corruption and rule. If Delcehv were alive today, he would be ashamed of those who destroy everything he fought for while calling out his name. He would personally fight against Mickoski, this VMRO criminal group and everything they represent," said Filipche.
He added that SDSM observes the anniversary with deep respect for Delchev's idea for a free and just Macedonia.
"While honoring Delchev's struggle, we say to the people: the time of justice and accountability is coming. SDSM will continue its fight together with the citizens to give them back the power, for a democratic and European Macedonia, the just and free country that Goce Delchev aspired for," said Filipche.
