Ex-FFM head Muamed Sejdini detained

Skopje, 23 April 2026 (MIA) - Former president of the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), Muamed Sejdini, has been detained on suspicion of embezzlement and abuse of authority.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Sejdini was detained by officers from the Organized Crime Suppression Unit and the Criminal Police Sector in coordination with the Skopje-based Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Prosecutor's Office said the investigation is ongoing and further details will be released upon completion.

Muamed Sejdini served as FFM head for two terms, spanning 2019 to 2025.

In February 2026, the FFM suspended Sejdini for two years over fraud and abuse of authority.

The FFM Disciplinary Committee found that Sejdini abused his position by authorizing a contract containing a 20% advance payment clause, which was not part of an approved bid for Ohrid’s "Biljanini Izvori" stadium stand construction, whereby the advance payment was made without a supporting bank guarantee and appropriate authorization.

The Disciplinary Committee concluded that Muamed Sejdini deceived and misled the FFM Board of Directors, causing serious material damage to the Federation, regarding which he was imposed an appropriate disciplinary sanction.
