Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) — After voting in the runoff races for Skopje Mayor and Municipality of Centar Mayor, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski said national security and stability required respect for democracy.

"As Minister of Interior, I firmly believe that the stability and security of the state begin with respect for democratic processes and institutions," Toshkovski wrote on Facebook after exercising his right to vote.

He said it was the law enforcement authorities' duty to ensure safe voting.

"Our obligation is to make sure the elections are conducted in a peaceful, safe and fair atmosphere, where all citizens freely voice their opinions. That is the essence of democracy and the path to a stronger country," Toshkovski said. mr/
