Skopje, 16 May 2025 (MIA) - The Government's majority is stable, having the same number of MPs after Taravari's exit, said First Deputy PM Izet Mexhiti on Friday and added there are ongoing talks with lawmakers of the opposition DUI-led European Front "who might cross on the other side of the aisle".
Mexhiti said these lawmakers "will support the Government" when asked if they would join the Vlen MP group.
"We are in talks with several individuals and groups, and we will inform you once there are concrete results, next week for sure," Mexhiti told reporters.
On the Government's legitimacy among ethnic Albanians following the exit of AA bloc leader Arben Taravari, the Deputy PM said Vlen won last year's elections with 107,000 votes.
"None of the Vlen stakeholders can say they have those 107,000 votes in their pocket. Yes, Taravari went to the other side but not the whole entity. You see tensions, different opinions, prominent AA members being recalled. I believe most of the AA members will remain within Vlen, because they contributed to the win and these changes," said Mexhiti.
Regarding Deputy PM for Good Governance Arben Fetai, who comes from the AA ranks but has not resigned from the post, Mexhiti said "he is good at doing his job, contributes to the changes and I hope will continue to do so".
