Gaza/Tel Aviv, 20 December 2025 (dpa/MIA) - At least five Palestinians, including children, were killed by Israeli shelling on a refugee camp in Gaza despite the fragile ceasefire, a spokesman for the civil defence said on Friday.
The Israeli military said soldiers had opened fire on several suspects "identified in command structures west of the Yellow Line."
Israeli soldiers retreated behind the so-called yellow line in the Gaza Strip following the ceasefire that came into effect on October 10.
Marked by yellow concrete elements and signs, the line represents a new division of territory in the Gaza Strip and extends between 1.5 and 6.5 kilometres into the coastal area. Israel thus controls slightly more than half of Gaza.
The Israeli military said it was "aware of the claim regarding casualties in the area," adding it was reviewing the details of the incident.
Israel's armed forces regret "any harm to uninvolved individuals," it said in a post on Telegram.
Despite the ceasefire, sporadic incidents have continued to cause fatalities in Gaza as the Israeli military continues to target Hamas commanders and positions.
