Andonovski: Digital transformation a priority of new Government

Skopje, 18 October 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski addressed the third Regulatory Dialogue between the European Union and the Western Balkans in Brussels, also attended by Director-General of DG Connect Roberto Viola, as well as the Ministers in charge of digitization from Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo.

Andonovski stressed the importance of the establishment of the new Ministry of Digital Transformation in Macedonia, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a press release.

"The recent establishment of our Ministry of Digital Transformation marks a significant milestone in Macedonia's path towards a secure and comprehensive digital transformation. This Ministry underpins the great importance that our government attaches to digital transformation as a key priority for the country's progress," Andonovski pointed out.

He mentioned the Government's most significant achievements in terms of digital transformation in the first 100 days in office.

"In the first 100 days, we announced 80 new e-services, increasing the number from 120 to 200 e-services. We expect 100 new e-services in the coming year, which means a 100% increase over the previous 4-year period. In the Government's first 100 days in office, we are redesigning the national services portal, in order to make access easier, with a better user experience, accessible to people with disabilities, more transparent and generally accepted," the Minister noted.

The Regulatory Dialogue focuses on the new European Union rules regarding AI, legislation on the use of electronic documents and the digital economy, as well as cybersecurity. On the sidelines of the Regulatory Dialogue, Andonovski held meetings with Roberto Viola, as the European Commission's official responsible for digitization processes, and Director for the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Valentina Superti.
