Varnes - Saveski: U.S. to continue supporting reforms to strengthen prosecutorial system

Skopje, 17 April 2026 (MIA) - Chief State Public Prosecutor Nenad Saveski met Friday with the Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy, Nicole Varnes to discuss key priorities aimed at enhancing the work and efficiency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
As announced by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the meeting was focused on an exchange of views on continued U.S. support for reform processes and activities aimed at strengthening the rule of law.
Saveski expressed gratitude for the continued U.S. support in advancing the overall rule of law system, with particular emphasis on the functioning of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the establishment and equipping of investigative centers within the prosecution offices.
Acting U.S. Ambassador Varnes congratulated Saveski on his appointment to the highest prosecutorial post in the country, noting that the United States will remain committed to supporting reforms that strengthen the prosecutorial system.
It was agreed at the meeting that support will continue in the form of training and exchange of experience, with the goal of enhancing transparency and efficiency within the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
