Mucunski to attend second ministerial meeting of Balkan Peace Platform in Istanbul
- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, will participate Friday in the second ministerial meeting of the Balkan Peace Platform in Istanbul, at the invitation of Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan.
Skopje, 23 January 2026 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, will participate Friday in the second ministerial meeting of the Balkan Peace Platform in Istanbul, at the invitation of Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan. Foreign ministers from the Western Balkan countries are expected to attend the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said in a press release Thursday afternoon.
“Balkan Peace Platform is an initiative launched by Foreign Minister Fidan in 2025 aimed at contributing to regional peace, stability and prosperity through a joint approach to identifying regional solutions to common regional challenges. The first ministerial meeting within this initiative was held in July last year, also in Istanbul,” reads the press release.
Minister Mucunski is scheduled to address the meeting, where he is expected to highlight key issues related to regional cooperation and efforts toward faster integration into the European Union, with a focus on economic development, transport connectivity, energy, digitalisation, as well as education and youth.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mucunski is also scheduled to hold a separate bilateral meeting with Minister Fidan, during which, in addition to issues related to bilateral cooperation, regional developments and current global challenges will be discussed.
