Defendants in Kochani fatal fire case plead not guilty
Skopje, 2 December 2025 (MIA) - All defendants in the case of the Kochani nightclub fire that claimed 63 lives and over 200 injured persons pleaded not guilty at a hearing in Skopje on Tuesday.
Defendants extended their condolences, said they understand the indictment but pleaded not guilty.
The hearing, livestreamed at the MIA YouTube channel and the MIA Facebook page, will continue with the opening statements by the defense.
The case involves 38 defendants - 35 individuals and three legal entities. Judge Diana Gruevska Ilievska presides over court proceedings, while a team of 15 public prosecutors represent the prosecution in order to ensure an efficient and fair trial.
Among the defendants, charged with grave crimes against general safety, are venue owners, managers, inspectors, mayors, security personnel, and government officials.
