Toshkovski assesses no-confidence motion against him as ‘distraction’ from fight against crime and corruption

Skopje, 10 January 2025 (MIA) - No-confidence motions are a democratic right available to opposition parties in democratic states. But personally, I believe this is just a simple distraction from the real fight against crime and corruption that is being carried out and will continue to be carried out with greater intensity, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski told journalists on Friday.

“It is strange that now, when the fight against crime and corruption is visible to the citizens, a motion of no-confidence is being submitted by just one part of the opposition. But let’s see their arguments. I would like to hear the arguments, and in my address, I will present all facts on the side of the truth,” Toshkovski said.

Five motions of no-confidence are being discussed by Parliament on Friday. Four of them are submitted by the DUI-led European Front against four members of the Government – deputy prime ministers Izet Mexhiti and Ivan Stoilkovikj, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, and his deputy Astrit Iseni. The other no-confidence motion is submitted by Levica against the chair of Parliament’s Committee on Social Policy, Demographics and Youth, Ilire Dauti, who comes from the European Front.

Most parliamentary parties said they wouldn’t support the motions against the four members of the Government.
