SEC publishes preliminary unofficial results of local election runoff

Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) – At a press conference late on Sunday, the State Election Commission published the preliminary unofficial results of the runoff vote in 32 municipalities and the City of Skopje at the 2025 local elections.
With 98.25% of polling stations processed, SEC head Boris Kondarko said a total of 415.435 citizens voted in the runoff nationwide, or 41.76% of registered voters.
In the Skopje mayoral race, VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate Orce Gjorgjievski received 93.207 votes, while Levica’s Amar Mecinovikj received 58.994 votes.
The turnout in the runoff of the Skopje mayoral race was 35.05%.
The mayoral candidates of VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition are leading in 21 municipalities, Vlen is leading in four, SDSM and its coalition in three, while the ZNAM Movement and the Union of Roma are leading in one municipality each.
Kondarko noted that, according to the Electoral Code, the candidate who received the majority of votes from the total number of voters who turned out is considered elected in the runoff – without any conditions or thresholds.
The SEC will publish the preliminary official results at a public session on Monday. The deadlines for complaints regarding the procedure of determining and summarizing the results begin to run after the publishing of the preliminary official results on Monday, while the deadlines for complaints related to the voting procedure have already begun as of 7 PM on Sunday.
