Skopje, 6 May 2026 (MIA) - The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje has launched an investigation into three people, including a beauty salon owner, after they were detained earlier on Wednesday for trafficking harmful medical products.
Prosecutors have requested that the beauty salon owner’s passport be temporarily seized and that she is barred from communicating with the other suspects.
The trafficking efforts were disrupted at the Tabanovce border crossing, with customs officers discovering 535 vials of fat-loss substances and 7.400 labels marked TIRZ 2.5 mg and TIRZ 5 mg during a thorough inspection of a van. Officers followed the van to the location where the beauty salon owner was to receive the products and arrested her.

By order of a public prosecutor, officers searched the suspect’s beauty salon, where they discovered other trafficked medical products – dermal fillers, substances for dissolving dermal fillers, products used for fat reduction, facial contouring products, wrinkle removal products, and rejuvenation products. No documentation was provided for their safety, validity, and lawful import. Despite this, the products were advertised and applied to clients.
