President Siljanovska Davkova addresses URC2024 panel in Berlin

Skopje, 11 June 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has addressed a panel at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) taking place in Berlin on Tuesday. 

Siljanovska Davkova addressed the panel that gathered heads of of state and government, which was also addressed by the co-hosts of the conference, German Councellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Siljanovska Davkova's Office said in a press release. 

The Presidents and Prime Ministers of the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Moldova, Estonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Georgia also participated in the panel. 

In her address, President Siljanovska Davkova said the Marshall Plan after World War II was, among other things, an expression of solidarity towards the ravaged Europe, and today, she stressed, a new type of Marshall Plan is necessary for the ravaged Ukraine.

According to the President, it is necessary to invest not only in road and energy infrastructure, but also in human, educational, social and normative infrastructure. 

The session, adds the press release, positively assessed the current joint European position that comprehensive aid to Ukraine should continue.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Siljanovska Davkova attended the opening of the conference which was addressed by German Councellor Olaf Scholz, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. 

URC2024 is a continuation of the annual series of high-level political events dedicated to the swift recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s war of aggression. 

"The key goal of the URC2024 is to mobilise continued international support for recovery, reconstruction, reform, and modernization of Ukraine," reads the press release.
