Skopje, 20 June 2024 (MIA) - A 25-year-old professional soldier passed away late Wednesday at the Skopje Clinical Center, said the Army General Staff. The soldier was one of the candidates at the selective course for the special force battalion, held at army field Krivolak.

During the final discipline of the selective course - a long-distance march - the professional soldier fell sick and was immediately taken by an army vehicle to the Negotino health center and then to the Skopje Clinical Center but despite efforts to save his life, he passed away shortly afterward.

A public prosecutor has been assigned to determine the circumstances of the accident, whereas the official report on the case of death will be made public after an autopsy at the Skopje-based Forensic Medicine Institute.

The late soldier started the 24-day selective course in good health and demonstrated excellent physical shape during the course activities, reads the press release.
