PM says process of departing foreign companies to be overcome

Skopje, 6 February 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday the process of foreign companies leaving the country would be overcome, while expressing concern over the workforce capacity for incoming investments.

Asked by reporters about the fact that some foreign companies are shutting down facilities, while others are reducing their capacities, PM Mickoski said the process would be overcome because there are ongoing talks with potential investors.

"There are several new companies that have announced the launch of investments or opening of production facilities, this is an ongoing process. We are negotiating with companies wanting to invest, so this process will be overcome. What I am more concerned about is whether we have enough workforce for the incoming investments," said Mickoski.

According to reports, company "Aptiv" is shutting down its operations in the Bunardzhik free economic zone, while "Johnson Matthey" is set to reduce the number of employees in its facilities located in the same zone.
