Brussels, 3 April 2025 (MIA) — On the sidelines of the NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and discussed matters of common interest for Skopje and Washington.

In a social media post, Mucunski said the meeting was "short but very productive" and they discussed cooperation between the two countries, both at the bilateral level and within NATO.

This was their first meeting since Rubio was appointed Secretary of State.

"We agreed on the importance of intensifying our political dialogue at the high level. Many joint initiatives lie ahead," Mucunski wrote.

The foreign minister is taking part in the Brussels meeting of NATO ministers of foreign affairs on April 3-4. The main topics are urgent security issues, support for Ukraine, strengthening partnerships and defense capacities as well as preparations for the NATO Summit in The Hague in June. mr/
