Skopje, 20 November 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday he expects positive developments in the country’s cooperation with the United States, following U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Howard Lutnick as Commerce Secretary in the next U.S. administration.
“You recall when Mr. Howard Lutnick was here in Skopje at a meeting in the Government. We discussed many topics, and we are friends. I expect only positive developments in our future cooperation as strategic partners. I am convinced that he will provide added value not only to the U.S. economy but also to the global economy, which will be positive for the Macedonian economy as well. Of course, I congratulated him and I only expect added value… It is good that as a Government we have friends in the world’s most powerful economy, the U.S. economy, and I am convinced this will only mean good things for Macedonian businessmen as well as the Macedonian citizens,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Mickoski underscored the high number of U.S. businesses which are already present in the country.
“But in the future as well, we have partners when it comes to a plan about U.S. investments in our country. So, I am really optimistic, and we need to inject optimism and look forward instead of looking at all these things through some metaphorical irony,” Mickoski told journalists.
