Skopje, 19 December 2024 (MIA) - Prosecutors should prove the guilt of Artan Grubi and all those suspected of committing crimes, while courts should order measures based on that evidence. The fact that someone is a fugitive only confirms his guilt. I understand but don't justify the messages coming from the opposition, and we can shoot down these speculation only through deeds, says Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
Regarding the escape of former deputy PM Artan Grubi and accusations coming from the opposition, PM Mickoski tells MTV that SDSM and the other opposition parties will continue to make things up, "but the important thing is that the feeling of hope is gradually coming back".
"I don't expect the leadership of SDSM and other opposition parties to come out and say 'bravo, well done'. They will continue to make things up. What is important is the gradual return of the feeling of hope and we are seeing this in the surveys. I am not saying it is brilliant, I am not saying we have done miracles over the past six months, but this feeling is coming back. It is a fact that the number of respondents saying Macedonia is moving in the right direction is 4-5 times higher compared to six months ago," says Mickoski.
According to him, the fight against crime and corruption is excellent and it is good to see citizens recognizing and supporting these efforts.
"Prosecutors should prove the guilt of Artan Grubi and all those suspected of committing crimes, while courts should order measures based on that evidence, whereas the defendant should prove his innocence in the court. This is how things should work. The fact that someone is a fugitive only confirms his guilt," adds Mickoski.
The PM notes that all those who committed crimes will be held responsible and "that is how the authorities will continue to work in the future."
