Skopje, 6 February 2025 (MIA) - The commission should initially look into the previous case of the driver who killed Frosina Kulakova, Judicial Council president Aleksandar Kambovski told reporters on Thursday.
As regards the commission that is set up to establish whether there has been any omission in the previous trials of the defendant Vasil Jovanov, who drove drunk and killed 22-year-old Frosina Kulakova in downtown Skopje, Kambovski pointed out that the timing is a bit sensitive, because the case is currently before the Skopje Appellate Court.
"The commission should act carefully, so as not to create pressure on the appellate courts because they normally have to decide on the first-instance verdict. If it is acceptable, they will uphold it. If not, if there are certain violations of the procedure, they will abolish it or perhaps change it. Therefore, the commission should carefully look into it and then come out with its own report. It will be acted on in parallel. However, it would be good to be careful because we do not want the Appellate Court to feel any pressure from us. That court already has enough pressure from the public," Kambovski said after Thursday's session of the Judicial Council.
