Hungarian loan funds almost fully used as support to domestic companies

Kratovo, 16 January 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski voiced satisfaction Friday from the use of the Hungarian loan funds as support to domestic companies.

PM Mickoski told reporters that about EUR 225 million out of the EUR 250 million available have been transferred to companies through the Development Bank.

"This is a loan that is, in a way, subsidized by the Government, at an interest rate of 1.95 percent, a three-year grace period and a 15-year repayment period. I expect it to be fully exhausted in the first quarter of 2026, along with the funds that banks are investing in the companies' development projects," said Mickoski.

The PM noted that Macedonia is topping the region regarding investments, posting a double-digit growth.

"I am really pleased by the way in which these funds are utilized, considering the country's double-digit growth in 2025, compared to the 2-2.5-percent growth in the eurozone," said Mickoski.
