Glavchev and Radev after Siljanovska-Davkova's inauguration: Agreements must be strictly implemented

Skopje/Sofia, 13 May 2024 (MIA) - Bulgaria does not accept statements and behaviour that contradict both the 2017 Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation and the agreements between the European Union and the Republic of North Macedonia, Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said following the inauguration of the newly elected president Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.

This, as reported by BTA, is also the stance of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, as conveyed earlier today by his cabinet's press service.

Импичмент нема да ги пополни браните или фрижидерите на луѓето, ниту ќе ги зголеми пензиите, туку најмногу ќе ги наполни плоштадите и ќе доведе до дефинитивен колапс на Владата, изјави бугарс

“Bulgaria consistently and clearly states its position that the agreements must be strictly implemented. We are convinced that the European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia depends entirely on the implementation of the international agreements to which it is a party, as well as on the approval by the European Council in July 2022,” as indicated in statements by Glavchev and Radev.

Both also remind that the Republic of North Macedonia is a member of NATO, which entails corresponding obligations and responsibilities.

The newly elected president Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova while being sworn in earlier on Sunday, did not use the country’s constitutional name – the Republic of North Macedonia, instead referring to the country as “Macedonia”, prompting a series of reactions from Greece and the EU regarding adherence to the 2018 Prespa Agreement.
