Skopje, 8 February 2025 (MIA) — If he were to run for Skopje Mayor, he would expect to win in the first round, ZELS Association of Local Self-Government Units NGO president and Kisela Voda Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski said in an interview published in the latest issue of Fokus.
Gjorgjievski said he based his expectation on the support he had received from citizens as well as his achievements as mayor of Kisela Voda.
"I have done a lot for the municipality. We have results, energy, a team... Above all, I have a concept of what Skopje should look like in the future," Gjorgjievski said, adding his plans for the capital could materialize in "a relatively short time."
"This has also been welcomed by the citizens who are giving me serious support. So I haven't been hiding my ambition to be Skopje Mayor," he told the weekly newspaper.
In the interview, Gjorgjievski said a potential solution to Skopje's public transport problem was "a light subway." He also said a communal police force should be formed to help protect public order and keep the city clean.
Speaking about the need for a stable energy supply system, he said he would push an initiative to build a gas power plant.
"If the central government joins the process, making gasification and a gas power plant construction possible, I think pollution in the capital will drop enormously," Gjorgievski said. mr/
