Skopje, 23 April 2026 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Thursday with the Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina's House of Peoples, Kemal Ademović.
Speaker Gashi expressed satisfaction with the excellent relations between the two countries, highlighting the role of Bosniaks in the country and the Macedonian diaspora in Bosnia and Herzegovina as an additional link between the countries.

He underscored the importance of improving transport ties between the two countries as a basis for better economic and broader cooperation. In that context, Gashi spoke about a renewal of the railway connection and the establishment of a Skopje - Sarajevo air route. In light of the upcoming Adriatic-Ionian Initiative Conference, Gashi stressed that the themes of the event – peace, parliamentary diplomacy, and the progress of Corridor VIII and X – are indicators of the interest of the countries and the efforts of the Western Balkan region toward integration into the European Union.

Chairman Ademović expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and shared his expectations from the conference chaired by North Macedonia. He noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina highly values the Parliament’s tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide through the commemoration of the tragic anniversary. He stressed that regional cooperation and the Berlin Process are particularly important for the region’s progress toward the European Union.
Gashi and Ademović agreed that bilateral cooperation and mutual visits at all levels and across multiple areas should be intensified.
