Favorite Prevc claims historic Slovenian Four Hills win Oberstdorf

Oberstdorf, Germany, 30 December 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Domen Prevc lived up to his top billing when he soared to an impressive victory inskijumping's Four Hills Tour opener on Monday.

Prevc recorded 141.5 meters and 140 meters to dominate each round as he became the first Slovenian to win on the Oberstdorf large hill.

Team-mate Timi Zajc and defending Four Hills champion Daniel Tschofenig of Austria shared second place, a massive 17.5 points behind the outstanding Prevc.

Zajc had 133.5m and 138m and Tschofenig rediscovered his form with 132m and 134m after recent modest results.

German Felix Hoffmann, Jan Hörl of Austria, Philipp Raimund of Germany and Japan's three-time Four Hills champion Ryoyu Kobayashi followed, with Kobayashi only 4.2 points behind Zajc and Tschofenig.

World Cup leader Prevc has won six of the last seven events, and came second in the other, for a career total of 15 victories.

He is bidding to become the third jumper from Slovenia to win the Four Hills, following Primoz Peterka in 1997 and his older brother Peter Prevc in 2016.

"If seems so easy but I have to stay focused. It is amazing to be the first Slovenian to win and with two on the podium. It is a special day for us," said Prevc, who had previously never made a Four Hills podium.

German Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger came second last 49th and missed the final round on the hill where he won two years ago. Multiple world champion and team-mate Karl Geier even failed to qualify for Monday's event.

The prestigious event continues on Thursday at the second German stop of Garmisch-Partenkirchen before concluding in Austria January 4 in Innsbruck and January 6 in Bischofshofen.
