Veles, 16 January 2026 (MIA) — Minister of Defense Vlado Misajlovski, who visited Friday the army barracks in Veles to attend the oath of enlistment ceremony during which newly enlisted soldiers publicly declared their allegiance and commitment to serve the country and obey orders, said the country was safe despite recent geopolitical developments, MIA's Veles correspondent reports.

Responding to a reporter's question about how global security challenges may put the country at risk, Minister Misajlovski said the national security situation was stable regardless of what was happening worldwide.

"Yes, absolutely, the country is safe. There are perpetual geopolitical upheavals, but we are focused on us. We are part of a huge family, NATO, and a ministerial meeting of the alliance will be held next month, when we will consider current developments in more detail. 

"Despite new hot spots and internal turmoil in some regions, I can claim national security is at the highest level," he noted. mr/
