Court extends Artan Grubi’s house arrest

Skopje, 23 April 2026 (MIA) - Former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Inter-Community Relations Artan Grubi is set to remain in house arrest after Skopje’s Basic Criminal Court extended the measure on Thursday for 30 days upon a proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Grubi, together with the former head of the State Lottery, Perparim Bajrami, is suspected of embezzling EUR 8 million through VLT machines. After more than 14 months on the run, he was arrested this February at the Blace border crossing.

After being questioned at the Prosecutor’s Office, Grubi was placed under house arrest instead of a previously ordered detention due to security reasons.
