Conference

Скопје, 6 Маѕ 2026 (МИА) - The Diplomatic Club - Skopje and the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law-Skopje are hosting a high-level conference "30 Years on the European Path: North Macedonia–EU Relations and the Road Ahead” on Wednesday.

The conference is convened to mark two significant milestones in the relations between North Macedonia and the European Union: 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and 25 years since the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. These events have defined the trajectory, substance, and resilience of our partnership, and have paved the way of the European integration process of North Macedonia, the Diplomatic Club said in a press release.

Minister of European Affairs Bekim Sali and of European Union Ambassador Michalis Rokas are set to deliver the openming remarks, followed by two thematic panels addressing the geopolitical context of enlargement, the role of youth, and opportunities for re-energizing the European path; and the centrality of the rule of law and economic convergence as indispensable foundations for a credible and merit-based accession process.

The conference comes at a critical juncture for the future of EU enlargement and provides a timely opportunity not only to reflect on the progress achieved, but also to reaffirm the strategic commitment to European integration. Against the backdrop of evolving geopolitical dynamics and renewed debates on the European Union’s role and credibility, the event aims to provide a platform for substantive and forward-looking dialogue among senior policymakers, diplomats, academic leaders, and representatives of the business community and youth, reads the press release.
