Skopje, 5 May 2026 (MIA) – British Ambassador to the country, Matthew Lawson, extended greetings on Macedonian Language Day via a video message delivered in Macedonian.

“Already in the fourth year of my mandate as British Ambassador, alongside my diplomatic duties, I continue to enjoy using the Macedonian language daily to communication with the Government, institutions, media, the non-government sector and the friends I have gained in this wonderful country,” Lawson said in a video message in Macedonian shared on his Facebook profile.

Lawson noted that the wealth of knowledge gained through learning the Macedonian language will remain with him forever.

“The wealth that comes from knowing the Macedonian language will remain with me forever. I will carry it with me through reading William Shakespeare translated by Dragi Mihajlovski, listening to Macedonian music and using the language whenever I can. Happy Macedonian Language Day,” Lawson noted.
