Bozhinovska: Decisive policies, investments and international cooperation for sustainable energy future
- Sustainable management of resources is not a choice but an obligation at a time of global energy and climate challenges, said Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska in her address Monday at UNECE Resource Management Week 2026 before high representatives, experts and global policymakers.
Skopje, 27 April 2026 (MIA) - Sustainable management of resources is not a choice but an obligation at a time of global energy and climate challenges, said Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska in her address Monday at UNECE Resource Management Week 2026 before high representatives, experts and global policymakers.
“We find ourselves in a period of deep and irreversible transformation of the energy and resource system. Challenges such as climate change, energy security, and economic resilience are interlinked, but the opportunities that arise from them can drive sustainable development if we act together,” the Minister said.
Bozhinovska stressed the country has made a significant step forward on an institutional level with the establishment of the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources as a key step toward enhancing the strategic management of energy and natural resources.

The Minister noted that tangible results are already being realized through the development of key infrastructure projects such as the gas pipeline connection with Greece and the planned interconnection with Serbia, strengthening energy security and regional integration.
At the same time, according to the Minister, the country is working intensively on boosting investments in renewable sources of energy, especially solar and wind capacities, as well as on improving energy efficiency. In the mining sector, Bozhinovska said the focus is on responsible and sustainable use of resources, in line with international standards.
In her address, Minister Bozhinovska also stressed the importance of multilateral cooperation, noting that no country can independently overcome the challenges of the energy transition.
“International cooperation is not an option – it is a necessity. Only through partnerships, exchanges of knowledge, and joint policies can we ensure a sustainable and secure future,” Bozhinovska stressed.
