Apasiev: Levica gained 30.000 votes more than first round, demand amendments to Electoral Code, SEC member
- The opposition vote in the country is realigning behind Levica, said party leader Dimitar Apasiev at a press conference late on Sunday, stressing that the party is demanding amendments be made to the Electoral Code and a seat in the State Election Commission.
Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) – The opposition vote in the country is realigning behind Levica, said party leader Dimitar Apasiev at a press conference late on Sunday, stressing that the party is demanding amendments be made to the Electoral Code and a seat in the State Election Commission.
Apasiev said VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate for Skopje Mayor, Orce Gjorgjievski, won around 3.500 votes more compared to the first round, while Levica’s Amar Mecinovikj gained over 30.000 additional votes in the runoff.
“This only shows that opposition votes are already realigning behind Levica. From being the second party across all of Skopje, tonight I announce that we are now the leading party – even ahead of VMRO-DPMNE – in Centar, Karposh, and the urban part of Aerodrom,” Apasiev said.
Apasiev said a portion of undecided voters made an “unintelligent decision” by not turning out to vote.
“As many as 66 percent of them didn’t vote – that’s a very unintelligent decision under this electoral model. To put it plainly, two-thirds of the citizens of Skopje did not vote, one-third did. Of that one-third, only one-fifth decided for all of us. Twenty percent VMRO supporters will be putting down the boot on you for the next four years,” the Levica leader said, while also urging SDSM’s votes to join Levica for a victory at the next parliamentary elections.
Apasiev also vowed there would be “hell” in Parliament if the Electoral Code is not amended and if Levica does not receive a seat on the State Election Commission.

The party’s candidate for Skopje Mayor, Amar Mecinovikj, thanked voters and activists, noting that Skopje has awakened and that “a new political movement is being created”.
“In the creation of this movement that is already present in the streets of Skopje, in these 60.000 people who chose our option, we see the mirror of Skopje’s future. Skopje has awakened, Skopje decided it is possible to vote and choose differently,” Mecinovikj said, stressing that the party would continue with intensified activity in Parliament.
