Toshkovski-Brunner: Partnership with EU institutions key to strengthening national and European security

Skopje, 27 February 2026 (MIA) – Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski met Friday with the EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, and discussed European integration, the fight against organized crime and strengthening border management.

North Macedonia’s strong commitment to the European integration process and further alignment with European standards in the areas of justice, freedom, and security was reaffirmed during the meeting, as reported by the Interior Ministry.

During the meeting, Minister Toshkovski expressed gratitude for the continuous expert and financial support from the European Union, emphasizing that the Ministry of Interior remains a credible partner actively contributing to the security of the Union through project implementation, reforms, alignment of national legislation with EU law, and the execution of measures under the Reform Agenda, the Interior Ministry reported.

It was noted that the partnership with the institutions of the European Union plays a key role in strengthening both national and European security, with both sides expressing willingness to intensify cooperation in the coming period, reads the press release.
